The UM Motorcycles portfolio has the iconic models to enchant the customers. Let’s see whether Commando Classic has the ability to elevate the fame of the brand or not?
UM Renegade Commando Classic gets offered in colors like;
The Renegade Commando Classic is one of the best cruising models in the UM Renegade series. The muscular fuel tank with pouch offers a good amount of space to keep the accessories of the biker. The bike comes with a large leg guard to ensure safety on the road. While the saddle bag on both the sides of the bike comes as the standard option, but the left side saddlebag will come as an optional one.
The Renegade Classic design is the true replica to one of the opulent model ‘Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail’. The large windshield at the front to oppose the blowing wind that strikes the rider, the tank covering and artificial leathered saddle bag artificial leather comes as a standard option. The most of the body parts of the bike get chrome-touchup to make the bike a standout in the segment.
The Classic gets an astounding front and rear fenders, which give perfect cruising stance to the bike. The Instrument console of the bike is fitted at the center of the fuel tank Instead of the handlebar to give the unique appearance and to the cruiser.
The bike acknowledges the rider by displaying significant info of the bike and also facilitate by offering features like; USB charging point, a large blue-lit analog speedometer with a small LCD for gear indication purpose, odometer, trip, and fuel meter. The instrument console mounted on the fuel tank is a bit hard for the biker to read.
The 18-liter fuel tank offers good riding posture to the biker. The rear view mirrors further add the premium look to the bike. While the cruising stance is elevated with the 16-inch front and 15-inch rear spoke wheels wrapped by tubeless tyres offer good grip over the surface. The hassle-free drives are possible with suspension unit fitted at both the ends.
Hence the bike appears to be the retro vintage cruiser that gets faired with the flamboyant elements to grab the attention of the mankind.
The bike elements are not reliable, which was lagging in the bike. The plastic panels and fairings of the bike appear to be cheap. I think the biker has fitted the bike with low-quality materials in order to make the bike affordable to the customer.
The motor draws the ferocious power from a 279.5 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill that churns out tremendous output to offer cruising speed to the biker. The Classic is now compliance to the BS4 norms to offer decent rides with low smoke emission. The biker might experience the vibrations when the bike rides at low speeds, hence there are some issues with the riding speed.
The 6-speed gearbox enables easy shifts to the biker along with responsive output with respect to the biker range. Though the bike claims to be a good cruiser to ride, the tuned & refined output is not distributed accurately. In order to experience the pleasure with a bike, one has to rev the bike only in mid-range speed, otherwise, you’ll get vibrated with the motion that the bike develops.
The bike pumps out a peak torque of 23Nm, which is the good number, but it is not sufficient to sprint the bike as desired and not such a commendable when compared to the engine. The 6-speed transmission unit works well, but the shifting of gears is a bit disgusting to the rider. The pattern of 1-gear down & 5-gears up gives good riding capability. Hence the quicker shifts are efficiently drawn from the transmission unit mated with the engine.
The dual-cradle frame is built strongly to hold good in all situations. The measurements of the bike are decently crafted to handle the bike effectively. Hence the biker & pillion gets delighted with the comfort levels offered by the bike. The raised handlebar, foot-pegs, and nicely padded seating offer perfect cruising stance to the rider.
The comfortable & stress-free rides are possible with conventional telescopic forks at the front and twin hydraulic shocks at the rear. Hence the stiffer suspension enables good vibes to the biker on roads. The linear bumps, potholes, and speed breakers are effectively overcome with the reliable suspension unit. Thus, Commando Mojave enables good dynamics to endeavor the road like a beast. Though the bike weighs 179 kg.
All the riders mostly feel concern about braking system. So, the bike maker employed 280mm disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear to stop the bike at acquired conditions. Hence the rider can easily stop the bike accordingly with the appropriate application.
The UM Renegade Commando Classic will be yours by sparing almost INR 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Hence the bike is priced affordably by considering the customers and segment competition. The bike offers good driving dynamics, ergonomics and styling, to facilitate the motor enthusiasts who admire the cruisers. Hence, with all the features, specs and engine configuration, UM Renegade Commando Classic is going to allure the auto market and customers.
